The event is planned as a Saturday formal event, with optional community meetups on Friday evening and Sunday for those interested. The likely venue will be a university in the Chicagoland suburbs near a metro line, making it easy to visit the city if you'd like — and generally more affordable for lodging than staying downtown.

To secure a proper venue with dedicated computers, we are looking at a cost of approximately $25 per person. This fee would go directly toward covering the per-computer cost charged by the venue — it is not a prize pool contribution or profit. We want to be upfront about this before you express interest. We will try to seek avenues to cover entry fees for those who are unable to pay.
